Visiting Pilots
RAF Marham (EGYM) is a front line military Tornado base. PPR is absolutely essential! At the weekend the base is on standby and regular flying takes place from both the Marham Aero Club, and Fenland Gliding Club as well as the ocassional Tornado launch, especially over the airshow season in the summer.
To arrange PPR, call Station Ops 01760 337261 Ext 2040 (you will need to ask to be put through)) and pass your details. As the station is on 24 hour standby, you will also need to call ATC 01760 337261 Ext 7282 (direct dial)) and advise them also (if no answer at the weekend, they are closed!). The Marham Aero Club is on Ext 7421 and is manned during flying at the weekend.
The main runway is 24/06. It is 2786mx61m and has cables inset between 1500-2100ft. You should assume that these are up and plan to land and take-off beyond them as they could damage light aircraft. Their positions are marked by yellow lines either side of the runway.
The secondary runway is 19/01 and this has 1800mx91m with no cables.
When active, the gliders operate from a strip just east of 19/01, and just south east of the main runway (24/06). All light aircraft and gliding movements within the Marham MATZ are conducted on Marham Approach, 124.15, so please use that frequency whether Marham is open or not. The MAC and Fenland gliders also listen out on this frequency and are able to reply if required. In addition, the airfield does have military activity at weekends and can open unexpectedly at very short notice. If this occurs, ATC will activate and transmit on 124.15 and may instruct aircraft to leave the circuit. It is imperative that you follow these instructions quickly!
The gliders circuit direction is to the east, powered aircraft should perform all circuits to the west at 1000ft QFE. When Marham is open, the direction will be advised by ATC.
Approach - 124.15
Tower - 122.1 (only if ATC ask you to contact them on this)
ATIS Ext 7888
Marham Aero Club is located in the north west of the airfield, on 'Alpha' dispersal. Taxi up 01 to the end, turn left towards the large waterfront area (don't go right towards the metal hangars). Once you have passed the right turn towards the hangars, bear right and turn off at the first right, towards the 2 rubber shelters. You should see a green painted building with the Marham Aero Club sign on the front face. The club normally listens out on 124.15, so may be able to help with taxi instructions. Please also see the page 'how to find us' for a detailed map, optimised for those arriving by car.
